ESCANDE -- On Friday morning, October 20, 1944 at 6:30 o'clock a.m., FELIX ESCANDE, beloved husband of the late Maria Dobard, father of Mrs. Ollie Boutte, Louis and Felix Escande Jr., brother of Mrs. John Barrios of Jesuit Bend, La., grandfather of Ferdinand and Paul Boutte, great-grandfather of Ellen Boutte and Ferdinand Boutte Jr., also survived by a host of other relatives and friends; a native of Louisiana.
Relatives and friends of the family, also employes of Maison Blanche Realty Co., Gardenia Sewing Club and the office force of Dr. Isaacson and Dr. Bloch are invited to attend the wake on Saturday night at Carr and Lopis Funeral Home, 1620 Dumaine street near Claiborne avenue and funeral on Sunday evening, October 22, 1944, at 2 o'clock. Services at St. Peter Claver church.
Interment in Jesuit Bend, La. [Dobard Cemetery]

- Per Plaquemines Parish Records, Marie Dobard (identified as a femme sole) sold a lot in Oakville, Louisiana, bounded by Oakville Street, St. Peter Street, Public Road and Shell Road to Milton Bradley for ninety ($90.00) dollars. Marie acquired the lot by inheritance from Frank Jones. The sale was signed by Marie with an X and Milton Bradley and witnessed by Felix Escande, Sr., Felix Escande, Jr. and Mrs. Ollie Boutte.

Liquor Reported at Home of Wife of Man Given Jail Term
«/b»Deputy Marshal Frank T. N. Patten Thursday reported to Assistant United States Attorney William H. Norman the seizure of eight cases of beer, two gallons of whisky, and other contraband in the house at 1436 North Villere street, occuped by Mrs. William Coughlan, when he served a preliminary padlock order on the woman and made an inventory of the property on the premises in compliance with the order.
Mrs. Coughlan Monday escaped a jail term when Judge Borah placed her on probabtion after sentencing her husband, William Coughlin, with whom she pleaded guilty to charges of selling and possessing liquor, to serve a three months' jail term in the Marksville jail. Mrs. Coughlan was at home when the padlock order was served.
The padlock was one of five served during the day. The others were directed at Willie Bolton, 2836 Howard street; George l'Artigue, Bridgevale; Theodore Stewart, 221 North Villere street, and «b»Felix Escande, 400 Marais street«/b».
