      140 Persons Pay Voluntary Fines, Police Report
      «/b» Further increases in the issuance of traffic violation notices and in the voluntary payment of fines by motorists were reported Thursday.
      Police arrested 15 persons and issued violation notices to 256 other alleged traffic law violators between 7 a.m. and 11 p.m. thursday, as compared with 69 notices issued between the same hour Wednesday. The traffic violation bureau reported that 140 persons paid voluntary fines.
      Convicted of driving an automobile while under the influence of liquor, Albert Dobard, 24-year-old negro, 2222 Gentilly avenue, was sentenced Thursday by Judge William J. O'Hara in criminal district court to serve 30 days in Parish Prison.
      On November 17, 1935, Dobard is said by police to have driven his car on the sidewalk, causing damage to the grocery and residence of Lawrence Allen at 1300 Touro street. Police who investigated the accident testified that Dobard was intoxicated at the time of the accident.
      Five motorists were fined in recorders' court for traffic violations. They are Clarence Rhea, Jefferson parish, speeding with a truck in a school zone, $2.50; Louis Molerine, Delacroix Island, St. Bernard parish, double parking, $1; George L. Courrege, 4124 Prytania street, speeding 48 miles an hour, $5; Jacob B. Hassinger, 8118 Green street, speeding 50 miles an hour, $5; and Alphonse Cheaussler, 4322 Fontainebleau Drive, reckless driving, $2.50. [9]
