Notes |
- According to the 1900 census, Ernest was not able to read or write.
His wife is listed as a widow in the 1920 census.
- (Research):6/27/05: marriage certificate for Edgar and Marie TENETTE confirms that Edgar's father is Ernest DOBARD, but indicates that Edgar's mother was Mary JOSEPH, not Cesaire DOBARD. Birth dates for Edgar's siblings bear out the fact that it is unlikely that Cesaire could have been his mother. (Morris "Moko" b. Jul 1886; Edgar b. Sep 1886)
The 1870 census shows a Mary JOSEPH, age 7 (b abt 1863) living in Plaquemines parish. IF she is the person named on the marriage certificate, she would have been abt 13-14 years old when Edgar was born.
6/28/05: Edgar's death certificate is witnessed by the undertaker Charles Medley. The 1910 census shows Medley (W) living at 1309 St. Philip Street. On the same page is shown a Mary JOSEPH (B), age 35 (b abt 1875), single, living alone and unemployed at 1327 St. Philip Street.
Need to find out if both listings are the same Mary JOSEPH.
